Use case / practical settings
Typing GIF for Email Signatures
Create a restrained animated signature line that loads quickly and remains legible in email clients.
Recommended starting point
600 px wide or less · one short loop
- Keep the file small.
- Include meaningful static fallback text nearby.
- Test in Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail.
Assume the animation will not play
Many email clients strip animation, and some block remote images outright. Treat the GIF as an enhancement: put the same information in plain text beside it, and keep the file small enough that it does not slow the message down on a phone.

Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail handle animated images differently, and a corporate gateway may block them entirely. Send yourself a real message from each client before the signature reaches anyone else, and check what arrives, not what the preview promised.
Height is the real constraint
A signature sits at the bottom of every reply. A tall animation pushes the message body around and makes each exchange in a long thread longer, so keep the canvas wide and shallow instead of square.
